Background

The Judicial Service Commission is constituted by the Oyo State Government under Oyo State Law. 
The Oyo State Judicial Service Commission is a statutory body established by Section 197 (1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) among 3 Commissions established therein. i.e. State Civil Service Commission,

Mandate

a) Advise the National Judicial Council on suitable persons for nomination to the office of:
i. The Chief Judge of the State,
ii. The President of the Customary Court of Appeal of the State,
iii. The Judge of the High Court of the State
iv. Judges of the Customary Court of Appeal of the State 

b) To recommend to the National Council the removal from Office the Judicial Officers mentioned above.

Composition of the Judicial Service Commission

The Commission is Composed of Eight (8) members. The Chairman, who is the Hon. Chief Judge, the President, Customary Court of Appeal, the Attorney General, the Secretary, who is the head of the Judicial Service Secretariat, and other 4 political members.
The appointment of the Attorney General and four (4) political members are made by the Governor subject to the confirmation by a resolution of the State House of Assembly.
The Judicial Service Commission Secretariat staff strength is 18 members which are pensionable staff.

Appointment of the President of Customary Court of Appeal as at when due.

Establishment of Judicial Divisions Magisterial Districts and Grade 'C' Customary Courts throughout the state.

Appointment of 4 numbers of the High Court Judges in the year.

Establishment of family Court and Multi-Door Court.

The establishment of Grade 'A' Court has been manned by legally qualified Lawyers.

Establishment of Customary Court of Appeal.

Operations and Administration

Administration and Supplies Department

The Department is in charge of human management and control; Responsible for Administrative development planning; In charge of general administration matters.

Finance and Accounts Department

Preparation of annual budget of the MDA; Preparation of monthly financial report; Maintenance of adequate security restriction of unauthorized access to the books of accounts; Ensures remittance of Revenue generated by the MDA’s into Designated government bank account.

General Duties Department

This section performs general administrative duties and render help to other departments as at when due.

Audit Department

The section performs the managerial control by measuring and evaluating the effectiveness of the internal control system. Provision of a complete and continuous auditing of the accounts and records of revenue and expenditures, assets, allocated and not allocated stores where applicable; etc.
